If I may say so, the kingdom within is not our own making. It is built block by block from many sources, principally and most especially from experiences and influences we find meaningful and useful. This inner kingdom only admits–and later modify–that which is pertinent in the growth of the individual. Thus, over time the kingdom allows idols, false and true, in the context of Plato’s cave of shadows and lights. I believe, therefore I am. I only author the kingdom in that sense. The rest are the vast store of other people’s ideas that intersect with our thoughts.
Therefore, we are not absolutely sovereign. As we are co-builders with what we believe in the most, we rule in tandem with another relatively absolute presence. This presence is known by many name: God.
